Mercer Law is pleased to announce that Aimee Hou — a former Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) Audit Supervisor — has joined the firm to provide expertise on independent contractor and other L&I issues.
Ms. Hou has spent the past 6.5 years with L&I as a Fraud Auditor, Litigation Specialist, and most recently (for the past 4 years), as an Audit Supervisor for the King County region. Ms. Hou has trained and mentored new and experienced auditors regarding workers’ compensation reporting rules.
Ms. Hou has worked with L&I’s Investigations, Collections, and Employment Standards departments and is very knowledgeable regarding independent contractor issues, record-keeping requirements, risk classification, wage/prevailing wage, and employment standards issues. Ms. Hou has participated in developing audit plans and procedures, and has extensive experience with board hearings and appeals.
Ms. Hou has bachelor’s degrees in business administration (Management) and accounting, and her MBA at University of Washington is in progress.
